Safeguarding Children - Level 3

This comprehensive one-day course lays the foundations of safeguarding and child protection practice. Designed for professionals with little or no prior experience, it also serves as an essential refresher for those looking to strengthen their confidence and understanding.

Participants will gain a clear insight into the child protection system, recognising what constitutes a safeguarding concern and how to respond appropriately. Through practical exploration and reflection, this course equips learners to act decisively, ensuring that every child’s safety remains at the heart of their practice.

What makes this training distinct is its integration of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma-informed practice. Attendees will explore how early adversity shapes behaviour, relationships and long-term wellbeing - building empathy, insight and skill in recognising the signs of harm.

Upon successful completion of this training, each participant will be awarded a Level 3 OCN accreditation, provided by OCNCredit4Learning.

  • By the end of the course, participants will:

    • Understand the safeguarding and child protection system.

    • Recognise what constitutes a safeguarding concern and how to act.

    • Understand their duty of care to report and protect.

    • Explore how ACEs and trauma can impact children’s development and behaviour.

  • This training is suitable for any teams working with children, such as Children's Services, Alternate Provision Staff, Youth Service, Education, Policing and third sector support services.

  • This training can be delivered either face to face or online.
